A Puppet A Day
thelegendofmichael asked: How do you get past the "first project hump"? I built a set of puppets for the first time (Avenue Q puppets), but I don't have enough experience to take on or find any other projects. How did you gain enough experience/knowledge to be hired by the big guys?
The only way to get experience is to do the work , whether you have a project or not , cartoonists and comic book illustrators draw and draw and draw, sculptors ,sculpt, if you want to build puppets you need to build , design your own puppets, and practice , there is no easy way , you have to work at it everyday .
Meet the Kazoos ,
Ministry of puppets is a fun Uk site, who makes puppet videos, ALex bought a couple of my First “A puppet a day puppets on Etsy, and he just made a new video,
These puppets were based on the “BLACK BEARDED PURPLE BLATCH” pattern created by the Jim Henson company back in the sixties for a magazine article, glad to see he is having fun with them while he waits for the other two he purchased (we have had a shipping snafu )

first of all Tumblr, you deleted my description to this post forcing me to re type my rambling nonsense.
secondly ,you all should give this guy some love!,
Charles got the idea to do “a puppet a week” well befoe i even thought about
”a puppet a day” , (honestly i was going to do one a week, Curse you Charles!!)
in his last post he commented that he wish he could be more like me, and while flattering, i think he should be more like him, be the best him he can be!!
we come from two different worlds, and this should be a fun project, hobby, and learning experience for him! he has a “REAL JOB” a family, and several great creative outlets, and no matter how he may stumble on the way to his goal, he shouldn’t get down about it, i have wasted more time than i care to think about comparing my self to my more illustrious colleagues, and its pointless
i started my challenge out of boredom, lack of work, and projects with two much material and way to much free time, i have been having fun with it, but on more than a few occasions, the “REAL WORLD” has intruded, interrupting my work flow, and output, I’ve missed more than a few days , but i think my goal was a bit over reaching anyway, but ill still do as many puppets as i can regardless,
So Charles, don’t let the real life stumbling blocks get you down, do your work,do the best work you can, than do better, I’ve seen you evolving as you go, keep on doing it. and have fun, in the end that’s all that matters any way.
From Start to Finish, this is the making of the puppets For College humor, Keep in mind, this was pretty much done in about 18 hours from start to finish, i started with the stop motion animation models, then did a quick, sketch for approval, then jumped in to the foam work, covered the foam bodies with spray glue and cheese cloth, then added the paint and latex mix, finaly eyes and costumes.
